Commemorating the Life of the Siri Singh Sahib during the 300th Anniversary at Hazur Sahib
In October of this year, the Sikh community world-wide will be honoring one of the most important anniversaries of our times. In Nanded, India at Takhat Hazur Sahib, Sikhs will commemorate the 300th anniversary of the Siri Guru Granth Sahib receiving the Light of Guru Nanak and being installed as Guru for all time.
The Siri Singh Sahib Bhai Sahib Harbhajan Singh Khalsa Yogiji was a very special son of the Guru. He was the channel through which the word of the Siri Guru Granth Sahib spread to people from every culture and background. The Guru used the Siri Singh Sahib as a vehicle to spread the Light of the Shabad Guru to every corner of the planet.
This year, during the 300th anniversary celebrations at Hazur Sahib, Sikh Dharma International would like to create a permanent memorial to the Siri Singh Sahib and his life. But we need your support TODAY to accomplish this.
The permanent memorial will be a dedicated wing (12 rooms) in the Guru Angad Dev Ji Nivas, where the Siri Singh Sahib stayed during his trip to Takhat Hazur Sahib in the 1990s. A photo of the Siri Singh Sahib and a brief description of his life will be created and live there for posterity. In the years to come, Sikhs who visit Takhat Hazur Sahib and stay at the Guru Angad Dev Ji Nivas will have an opportunity to learn about the Siri Singh Sahib and his extraordinary mission of carrying the Guru's message to the West.
However, in order to create this wonderful memorial, we need to raise $20,000 in the next two weeks.
We ask you to please become a sponsor for this project. If you, your family, or your community, will donate $1000 towards this project, your name will be placed on a special plaque. That plaque will become part of the permanent Siri Singh Sahib memorial exhibit at the Guru Angad Dev Ji Nivas.
However, any donation towards creating this memorial is very deeply appreciated. Our timeline for gathering the funds is May 20, 2008.
This year at Takhat Hazur Sahib, we all will hold in reverence the memory of Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji, the King of Kings, passing the Light of the Guruship forever to the Siri Guru Granth Sahib. We pray to also have the chance to create a memorial to the Siri Singh Sahib, who took the Guru's work and carried it across the ocean so that all people would have a chance to meditate on the Sound Current of the Shabad Guru and heal their lives.
