The Siri Singh Sahib once said that we simply need to be ready to receive the Aquarian Age energy by looking within ourselves, where we will recognize that we are the Guru.

Guru Sikh, Sikh Guru hai

“The Sikh of the Guru and the Guru of the Sikh are one and the same.”

In the presence of the Siri Guru Granth Sahib in Gurdwara, we are in resonance with the same divine Guru in each of us, and this allows us to remember who we truly are. The heart of my service is this: to do anything I can to support the Guru, Gurdwara, and Sadh Sangat, so we can all experience our own, personal Divinity through our Gurdwara.

Serving as Granthi allows me to always be close to the Guru in the Sadh Sangat, which continually inspires me and helps me grow. This is the greatest gift for me.

Based on direct training from the Siri Singh Sahib, my duties include allowing the free-flowing seva of the Sangat in the many aspects of Gurdwara while still maintaining all protocols of respect and grace in caring for the Siri Guru Granth Sahib.  It requires a balance to include the many loving ways people like to serve, while at the same time ensuring that each seva is in line with our teachings and what is best for the Sangat as a whole.

This involves inspiring and encouraging Sangat members to participate in the Gurdwara program. Sometimes I provide training as needed, in areas including learning Gurmukhi; reading the Hukam; reciting Ardas; serving Prashad; waving the Chauri Sahib; performing Prakash and Sukhasan; reading Ramkali Sadd after someone’s passing, and many other tasks.   By taking part in various aspects of Gurdwara and caring for the Siri Guru Granth Sahib, Sangat members choose their own ways of service to the Guru, the Gurdwara and the Sangat. It is very rewarding to guide people and help facilitate their meaningful participation in Gurdwara in this way.

There are always challenges that come up, but these are opportunities for me to rise above and learn from them. When confronted by any challenge, I always rely on the clear guidance of the Siri Guru Granth Sahib. The Guru always shows the way through every block, no matter how difficult the challenge may appear. Serving the Guru, everything works out, no matter how impossible a situation may seem.

In Gurdwara, we sit in the presence of the Siri Guru Granth Sahib, which is the calling of the Beloved. We listen to kirtan that changes the magnetic psyche of the universe with vibrations of the Word of the Guru.

In this sacred Court of the Guru, each person has the opportunity to remember and experience their true identity as one with the Guru and beloved of God.  This is the highest inspiration for me, throughout the past 29 years, to serve the Guru, Gurdwara, and Sadh Sangat as the Chief Granthi of Siri Singhasan Gurdwara in Española, New Mexico.
