Have you or someone you know ever wanted to plug into an ashram, to join a larger community and share the experience of service, sadhana and spiritual growth? If so, you’ll want to check out the Seva Sadhana Program at the “Mother Ashram, also known as Hacienda de Guru Ram Das, in Española, New Mexico, USA.

The Seva Sadhana Program is an opportunity for participants of all backgrounds to experience the healthy, happy, holy lifestyle in an immersive environment; to live together in spiritual community and rise in the early morning hours to practice Kundalini Yoga.

The Sevadars of this program have an ashram experience through a service exchange in our shared housing and working in the Legacy Garden and serving the community langar, participating in Ishnaan Seva, reading in the weekly Akhand Path and participating in other service projects within the community.

The exchange is physically demanding, but also incredibly rewarding.  For $34 a night, sevadars share in the community life of Hacienda de Guru Ram Das: Daily Aquarian Sadhana, yoga classes and workshops, community kirtan and more.  The program features a 40 day intensive – for $800, with heightened emphasis on commitment and a curriculum that supports personal transformation.

We currently have two buildings, a men’s and a women’s Nivas, house up to 16 people.

If you or anyone you know would benefit from our program and in turn, benefit the ashram community, please let us know. Also, if you are a teacher or leader in your local community and you would like to bring a group of students to do seva together, please contact us. We look forward to creating opportunities for both students and teachers to serve together. Visit the Seva Sadhana Program website for more information.

Here are some testimonials from people who have participated in the Seva Sadhana Program

Taking part in Seva Sadhana Program was a huge blessing for me. I was introduced to sadhana and I did it as a 40 days challenge. I experienced the power of its benefits, becoming more centered and coming closer to the core of my true being. I was able to heal from old pain and inviting new things on my path.

In daily ashram life I met amazing people that turned into my teachers and I was deeply touched by the spirit of Yogi Bhajan in the mother ashram. For me it was wonderful to learn about Sikh Dharma and reciting Japji. I am very thankful for this deep enriching experience.

I have learnt so much about seva and surrender, about living in a community and my individual needs and borders, about spirituality and trust. I have discovered for myself that meditation lies in all little things and actions we do in daily life.

During the program I was confronted with myself in so many different ways, dropping my ego, learning to bow and being humble. I am very grateful that I had the opportunity to do that in such a safe and protected space that Ram Krishan Singh and Ram Krishan Kaur are sustaining for the sevadar’s. I felt very supported during my stay and the seed for beautiful friendships was planted. I am already looking forward to return to New Mexico. Sat Nam!  ~ Saraswati Amrit Kaur

This program was the answer to my prayers for many years and came to fruition this past spring. I have felt support, experienced leadership and have found a cozy nest that I called quickly my home. Exposure to many different personalities made me see the light and darkness inside of me. With a safety net gently wrapped around me, approaching a journey of acceptance felt less threatening in this positive bubble. I am forever thankful for the opportunity, all the Lessons I have learned, the beautiful friends sharing their time and space with me. My dream of living in community, surrounded by like-minded friends, became reality after I left a very difficult living situation. The community became a part of me and I know I will return.     ~ Tarkash from Switzerland

The Seva Sadhana program was a huge blessing for me and my life. The first time I came in December 2017 I was amazed how easy it was in the surrounding of the Ashram to get familiar with a rhythm that allowed me to get into Sadhana so easily. Doing Sadhana everyday gave me the chance to see some not expected processes coming up and deal with them. I am so grateful for this healing process I could go through.

Working together with the other sevadars – no matter if in the kitchen or in the garden – always was fun and a possibility to exchange our experiences. The people attracted to this program are wonderful – thank you all!   The Seva Sadhana program will certainly see me again one day😊 ~ Rosi from Germany

I have to highlight my experience of Gurdwara, the very fist time I was in the presence of the Siri Guru Grant Sahib, tears just flood my eyes and I wondered, what is happening? What is this aching/sunny sensation in my heart, it was like when you are gone from a dearest place and you finally come back and can’t believe you are there.

I felt supported by all the people from the Ashram, it was so magical. Every time I had the chance to talk with a person there, it was like having a mini class about life, love, relationships, the path, anything! I felt as if  I had lived there all my life, because everybody received me with warmth.

At the beginning I performed seva by discipline, not understanding fully its meaning. After my experiences in Sadhana and in Gurdwara, I learnt to do it out of love and gratefulness for this place where, through my tears, I have become closer to my Soul.   -Namdhan from Colombia
