Dhyaan and Pratyahar

The practice of “Dhyaan” or “meditation” can lead us to a beautiful state of Pratyahar,” which can be defined as the experience of the mind synchronizing with the Divine energy source.

In Sikh Dharma, maintaining a steady meditation practice, or dhyaan is one way we can cultivate our ability to experience Pratyahar. At times during meditation, we are able to allow various thoughts to come and go, without attaching to any of them, and ultimately we can sometimes reach a state of thoughtlessness. Even if this state comes and goes quickly, it is enough to give us a direct experience of this beautiful and blissful state of merged consciousness with the One.

Here are some recommended practices for developing a practice of dhyaan, and ultimately, cultivating a state of pratyahar within ourselves:

Meditation to Develop a Meditative Mind

Shabad Guru Practice to Cultivate Mental Harmony with the Guru
