“Naam Simran” is continuous remembrance of one’s True Identity through repetition of the names of God. For Sikhs, practicing Naam Simran is required to prepare for Gurbani, the words or voice of the Guru, to have its effect. Naam Simran is the complete science of the Word and sound. In Sikh Dharma, we believe that practicing Naam Simran has the power to change a human’s biological and psychological metabolism of the body, mind, and soul.
Sikhs believe that when we can control our mind, we can create great things, because the power of the mind is also very unlimited. When disciplined and focused, it can change the vibrations and the magnetic psyche of the earth. That is why we do kirtan (singing of God’s praises). In the Sikh view, Kirtan literally charges the magnetic psyche of the universe with those vibrations of the Word of the Guru, the Naad, and creates a state of ecstasy.
