“Veechar” can be defined as being in a state of awareness, knowing and contemplation—watching the movie of life to know what to take note of.
A state of veechar can arise naturally during states of deep meditation, where we can start to gain a “bird’s eye” view of our lives and begin to identify more with our Soul than the Maya of the worldly play.
When we practice veechar, we can begin to see the play of life and invite in understanding to live for God, rather than “at” others. We can begin to see the soul-level lesson plans at play in our lives, and the hand of the Divine working on our behalf for our growth.
This state works on the soul and mind to release the tensions of over-identifying with the world (maya), and connects us with our purpose and identity as a soul being of God. It allows us to look at what are we here to do as this Soul being, in connection with God at each moment (i.e. here on earth as a representation of God for a divine purpose).
We change our concept of our identity from “being” a human to being a spirit having a human experience. We see the theology that the Divine is here to serve us, and we are here to serve the Divine—there is no difference. It allows us to transcend the experience of being trapped in the human experience.
The Meditation for the Neutral Mind can help us to tune into this beautiful experience of veechar.
Guru Nanak references veechar in the 33rd Pauree of Japji Sahib. Reciting the 33rd Pauree destroys your ego and brings forth your divinity. It is recommended to recite this Pauree 11 times each day for a minimum of 40 days to experience its effects.
