A “sevadar” is defined as one who performs “seva” (selfless service). Sevadar literally means “one who serves in the Guru’s court.” A sevadar simply serves others, expecting no return. For Sikhs, seva brings the grace of Guru and the likeness of God.
Sevadars are people with excellence in the proficiency of service. They serve others expecting no return. They receive the blessings of God and the grace of the Guru. When they serve with such humility, they are showered with the treasures of Heaven. In the Sikh view, God becomes very gracious and fulfills all of the needs and desires of the sevadar, without the sevadar ever having to ask.
