Sikh Dharma International, together with its affiliated organizations, serves humanity through the timeless wisdom of the Siri Guru Granth Sahib, upholding the values of compassion, dignity, and conscious living. Guided by these sacred teachings, we affirm a zero-tolerance commitment toward all forms of abuse, harm, or exploitation.
Rooted in the Guru’s teachings that recognize the divine light within every being, we are dedicated to creating and maintaining environments where children, youth, and families are safe, respected, and nurtured. The protection of the vulnerable is not only a responsibility but a sacred duty (seva) entrusted to the sangat.
This commitment applies to all who serve within our organizations, including employees, board members, and volunteers. Each individual shares in the responsibility to uphold a culture of integrity, accountability, and care.
We affirm that the well-being of children is paramount. In alignment with the Guru’s vision of Sarbat da Bhala (the well-being of all), we work in partnership with families and communities to ensure that every child is protected and supported.
In practical terms, we uphold child safety by:
- Honoring each child’s voice and listening with presence and respect
- Establishing clear policies, procedures, and codes of conduct rooted in ethical and dharmic principles
- Providing training, guidance, and ongoing support for all those in service
- Ensuring careful and responsible selection of personnel, including appropriate background checks
- Responding to concerns with sincerity, transparency, and meaningful action
We are committed to cultivating a safeguarding culture that reflects the teachings of the Guru—where all individuals are treated with respect, where trust is nurtured, and where concerns may be shared without fear. We strive to create environments free from bullying or harm, supported by appropriate health and safety practices, and grounded in mutual accountability.
In all these efforts, we remember that serving and protecting one another is an expression of living in alignment with the Guru’s path—recognizing the divine in each other and acting with courage, compassion, and responsibility.
