This is a recap of the Dialogues in Dharma program led by Rajveer Singh in October 2025
Kirtan Singh introduced Rajveer Singh, an SDI board member, inspiring teacher and devoted student of Yogi Bhajan and his teachings! We’re excited to have him with us today!
Rajveer Singh shared stories about his life and childhood
Jasmail Singh inspired me in my youth, he is an engineer and lecturer. He went to many years at the European Yoga Festival and served Yogi Bhajan for a long time. My mom woke up early to do parkash of Siri Guru Granth Sahib in our home each day. She came from a very simple village in India and did her daily banis. It was a very simple and old Gurdwara. I have many fond memories of India in my youth. My mom was very simple, very devout, saintly and loving. My dad was born in Singapore. He came from humble beginnings and worked for foreign affairs. He went through the Japanese occupation but wouldn’t bend. My dad shared a one-room flat with many people. My dad got selected as a teacher after he joined intelligence. Jasmail taught me basic Kundalini Yoga, and how to chant. And for a person like me, born Punjabi, yoga was not in my awareness of the journey. The Siri Singh Sahib was always revolutionary, and Kundalini Yoga was such a powerful tool for me. My first summer solstice was in 1997 in New Mexico – it just opened up my ribcage out of my prison! Doing tantric with a partner. And I cried and cried. So much cultural repression came up and out. And those White Tantric Yoga kriyas just did it for me and freed me. I was born with the Guru in my lifestyle. Yogi Ji was my teacher.
I’ve experienced our journey post 2020. .But for me what Yogi Ji gave me was so valuable. It allowed me to understand chanting, Simran and Japa. In these times when it’s such a challenge. I found a lecture in The Man Called the Siri Singh Sahib. He says from 2000 onwards it will be very intense. And this lecture is from 1980, and he said many of his students will pass, but whoever is reborn at this time will see this transition. And COVID showed us the Age of Aquarius, what this really is. Pavan Guru – “corona” means crown in Latin. This is the virus of the crown/Third Eye (fear). The virus of the breath. This will be the age of breath diseases because we don’t breath deep. Pavan Guru – in the air. Shabad Guru works fast in this age. It’s the air age. Everything is transmuted in the air. And it’s same for Shabad Guru. It’s a very interesting time. And the teachings allow me to understand that.
Rajveer Singh taught the Kriya to Melt Negativity.
It melts your animosity with yourself, and your enemies. These times carry so much polarity and misunderstanding. And Yogi Bhajan said if a demon comes before you, he will also become your student.
This meditation uses the mantra Aap Sahai Hoa. Yogi Ji shared the story around this shabad in a lecture in Beads of Truth. In 1982 before Bluestar, the Siri Singh Sahib, Sant Jarnail Bhindranwale, and Baba Karak Singh all gathered. And Baba Karak Singh was known as the ultimate Saturn Teacher, much more than Yogi Bhajan. And we had to do Shabads to keep us stable in his presence, because when his tongue let loose, and he could be cruel and rude and it was not for the faint of heart.
And in this lecture, Yogi Bhajan encouraged everyone to chant this shabad to get through these times. I started doing this a few days ago, it’s really helping me, and I want to share it with you. People are going through intensity and difficulty in relationships right now. And this shabad can be chanted for protection.
The group chanted Aap Sahai Hoaa together with heart from the navel.
Rajveer shared that he just committed to doing this for 1,000 days! He is on day three. It really helped with a difficult and antagonistic interaction he needed to have the other day.
Rajveer Singh – I’m very grateful to Yogi Ji. He shared the naad for us to experience for ourselves, and kriyas for us to practice. And he used his personality to bring this. And I’m infinitely grateful because it works for me! In these days when being joyful is a rarity, we can experience the Anand – the joy – like in Anand Sahib.
The teaching is beyond gender. There were many saintly women teachers and saints on the Sikh path too. When you sleep at night, there’s no gender! And the Shabad Guru is like that too. It’s for everyone.
I was 19 when I met Yogi Ji, and he told me to start teaching right away! I was so messed up, I started doing long Ek Ong Kars. I’m very loud! And my long Ek Ong Kars those days were crazy! I felt like I had to shout, and the long Ek Ong Kaar, was a whiplash. And I told my own mind – you can go here, you can think of money, or lust, a good thing, a bad thing, but this shabad can strip it all away and purify those thoughts and give you an experience! And long Ek Ong Kar for me was just a joy! I did it in the garden. And after three months, the head of police came to my father’s home. The police said there have been complaints from your neighbors, they aren’t sleeping, but it’s a very odd complaint – he said your family fights from 5 a.m. – 5:30 a.m.! Then my father realized it was me – my boy meditating loudly. And the policeman laughed and said to tell your boy he needs to go in the house, as the neighbors are quite upset. And I got a shelling from my dad, and transferred inside (group laughs). You can vibrate softly externally and be louder in the mind. It’s a journey – the Simran of Shabad Guru.
And when Guru Nanak started by sharing the Mul Mantra – it was the path of Ek Ong Kar. It really works for me. There were no Sikhs at that time. The turban traps the energy up here. It’s a pure science. Kundalini Yoga and meditation helped me understand what it is to be a Sikh – it gave me the experience, beyond just the knowledge in my mind.
In this Age of Aquarius – we are all teachers! We can all share. And we’re all here to connect in lonely times.
Rajveer Singh invited the participants to share their own thoughts and experiences
Group discussion proceeded
Kirtan Singh – these words of the Guru are beyond compare. We can’t ascertain their depth, their protective elements, it’s truly extraordinary. It’s one of the most elevating and uplifting things we can do in our lives, to share the words of the Guru with those who we know and those we don’t know. And if we can’t do it in the form of a class, we can do it in the form of translating our understanding of these teachings in our own words. And in my experience, that is what made the Siri Singh Sahib so effective. He didn’t just repeat what the Gurus said verbatim, what he did was he took the meaning of those words, and in the depth of his own personal understanding he conveyed that in our own language and modern time context. And he could take one word from the Guru, and lecture on it for an hour. Life teachings. And before I understood much about Sikh Dharma, there is one quote from Yogi Bhajan I memorized, and I still remember it to this day – “The facts of teachings are often distorted through rituals and time. When the people who practice those teachings do not live them as their life’s experience.” So that’s the joy of these teachings – when we get to experience these teachings, and live to that experience, we can always grow and have the Guru with us. Sat Nam! Thank you, Rajveer, I really appreciate what you’ve shared here today, your stories are fantastic!

I’ve been chanting Aap Sahai Hoa every day 11 times for 10 years. It’s wonderful, like a garment for me!
Rupinder (SDI Staff):
thank you, Rajveer! Very inspiring. I just love learning from stories. Every human being loves stories, and that’s the way tribes and indigenous people taught about their ancestry and how the world works. And Yogi Ji shared so many stories to convey a certain teaching. And I love hearing other people’s stories! I really appreciate your family history. It’s very inspiring to hear. And it’s so clear how our ancestors went through so many challenges and hardships, and how we are what Gurubachan Singh calls “the faith root.” We are the ones who are changing the course of the destiny of future generations. And that’s why we can feel the pain of those who came before, we feel that history. And with Guru Ram Das’s birthday celebration this month, I really connected with his childhood story. He was an orphan as a child, before he met Guru Amar Das. And by Guru’s Grace and his destiny, he came across Guru Amar Das’s teachings, and became the Guru. And I was thinking about that. And he must have felt all the pain and sadness and frustration of loneliness and abandonment with that history. But he was able through his devotion and surrender to Guru’s teachings and God, he was able to just overcome that and become a Guru. How amazing is that! And he drew compassion from his own history. So we can overcome our challenges. And it gave me a new perspective. Guru Ram Das wasn’t this enlightened being who came down from the heavens, he went first through the whole suffering of the human experience, the same as us. And that made me think how alive, real and tangible the Sikh teachings really are. It’s so real and so human, so down to earth while being so spiritual and connected to everything. And it was a beautiful way of renewing my own perspective of this path.
Group Chanting of Ek Ong Kaar Sat Gur Prasad
Rajveer Singh led the group in chanting Ek Ong Kaar Sat Gur Prasad, Sat Gurprasad Ek Ong Kaar. This is his third daily Japa of the morning. We’ll do one Mul Mantra to begin, then three minutes of Ek Ong Kaar Sat Gurprasad to finish with heart, mind and soul.
Rajveer – I’m going to share a personal story. I experienced abuse when I was young, and it broke me. It broke my confidence, I used to stutter and couldn’t speak in a crowd. Yogi Bhajan’s teachings saved me. And the Kundalini Yoga gave me everything, and I’m so excited about it. It sorted my life.
This mantra has saved the sun and moon in my life. Chanting it causes your words to manifest. It needs to be treated with utmost reverence and respect, be sure to say elevating words all day after practicing this as your words will manifest and bounce back on you. It is very powerful. It should be practiced in small doses, it’s very potent. Straight after I do this Gutka chant, I feel like Guru Ram Das’s protected saint. I’ve been doing this for 15 years, 3 minutes every day! And I’m committed to doing this every day for 3 minutes until the day I die.
This mantra is a Persian wheel that reverses negative to positive. Guru Arjan Dev built the Hari Mandir Sahib, Guru Hargobind built the Akal Takhat. Guru Ram Das built the sarovar. Guru Arjan said Ek Ong Kaar Sat Guru Prasad as a man walked toward him, and he froze and it got stuck in him. He started chanting it. He doesn’t come back for classes. They investigated and called him, to present before Baba Buddha and Guru Arjan. Where did you disappear? He said he was very scared, he started chanting the mantra, and after a few days his mind became very clear, and after another few days, his mind was heavy and hot and something popped (his Third Eye), and from there he said ‘I could see through walls, and anyone who came I could see the area around them’ (their aura). I could see where they were heading. And he was scared to come to the second class, and said ‘I might get beyond the universe, and my wife got fed up’ (group laughs).
And the second story I’d like to tell about this mantra – Guru Gobind Singh was among his warriors, and he asked if anyone could describe God’s essence, and one of his Sikhs said it’s Ek Ong Kar Sat Gurprasad.
As a boy I watched Lord of the Rings and Harry Potter. With Shabad Guru you can fly and have experiences beyond your wildest dreams.
Rajveer: this Shabad comes from the mouth of the Guru. And the journey is solely by the Guru’s Grace. This simple mantra Ek Ong Kar Sat Gurprasad. And Guru Gobind Singh’s parata Nitnem starts Ek Ong Kar, Sat Nam, Siri Wahe Guru Ji Ki Fateh. Just by this mantra. And this one meditation has allowed me to live, walk, when everyone is worrying, and I worry and overthink a lot too, but this mantra is unbelievable! So I stand by it.
I’m so happy I had Yogi JI in my life. And I’m so thankful for him, and just this lecture and chanting this for three minutes with my heart, mind and soul has saved my family. And I stand by it and bow to it. If you chant one mantra with your heart, Guru can come through.
