Harinam Kaur lived her life as a radiant light of love, spirit, and kindness. A devoted wife to Harinam Singh Khalsa and the proud mother of three sons—Kirtan Singh, Rama Singh, and Sat Amor (with Jenna Love)—and grandmother to Siri Dharam Singh, she lives on in the hearts and lives of those who carry her spirit forward.
A deeply devoted Sikh, Harinam Kaur walked the path of her faith with unwavering grace. She embraced and embodied the teachings of Sikh Dharma and Kundalini Yoga, devoting herself to the daily practice of sacred chants, shabads, and meditation on the Naam. Her spiritual life was not a performance but a living expression of truth and humility—an offering of service through her every breath.
She was a committed student and teacher of the teachings of Yogi Bhajan, and through her work as a Kundalini Yoga teacher, she guided many toward healing, harmony, and self-discovery. Her presence was angelic, yet grounded, and she led not only through her classes, but through the quiet, powerful example of her life.
In 1972, she helped establish the Golden Temple Natural Food Store and Café in Birmingham, Alabama—a pioneering effort that brought organic food, yogic lifestyle, and sacred community into the heart of the American South long before these ideas became mainstream. The Golden Temple is not simply a business—it is a mission of higher consciousness. Through her work there, she touched countless lives and brought the light of conscious living to those seeking nourishment of body, mind, and soul.
Though she lived far from a formal ashram, Harinam Kaur created sacred space wherever she was. Her choice to remain in Birmingham, rather than reside in a larger Sikh or yogic community, was a profound act of service. She stood as a pillar of strength, compassion, and spiritual guidance for the Southern sangat, offering fellowship, wisdom, and love to all who crossed her path.
Her life was deeply woven into the rhythms of the greater 3HO community as well—she treasured the times she spent at Solstice gatherings, drawing strength and joy from the sangat and radiating her presence in return.
Those who knew her will remember her sweet demeanor, her quiet joy, and her unwavering kindness. She radiated a gentleness that uplifted others, and a silent strength that deeply inspired.

Her coming and going has ended—she has merged with the Divine.

Harinam Kaur’s legacy is one of love, faith, and selfless service. Her light continues to shine in the hearts of her family, her community, and all whose lives she touched.
