Sikh Dharma communities around the world celebrate the birthday of Guru Ram Das, the fourth Sikh Guru, with a special sadhana every year on October 9th. The community will gather in a gurdwara, where possible, and sing the shabad in praise of Guru Ram Das, “Dhan Dhan Ram Das Gur, Jin Siria Tinay Savaaria” continuously for two and a half hours. This is followed by a special Gurdwara program and langar. Many will place special written prayers for Guru Ram Das when bowing before the Guru on this occasion.
Many Sikh Dharma communities around the world also hold 11 days of Guru Ram Das chanting leading up to Guru Ram Das’s birthday every year.
Many on the Sikh Dharma path hold a special relationship in their heart with Guru Ram Das, striving to emulate His embodied essence of humility and selfless service, and pray to Guru Ram Das for His miraculous healing touch and energy for themselves and others in times of challenge.
