Sat Nam Dear Friends,

What an age we live in: infinite communication, minute by minute connecting and constant input. Our daily “To Do List” is always there and ever growing. How do we navigate our daily life with Grace and Success? I now strive for a different constant: the constant remembrance of the Name of God. I pray that my connection is always strong and clear leading to an Intuitive nature. And finally, I am deeply grateful for the communication with my Guru, through His daily Hukam, where I am consoled, comforted and always given hope. Of course, behind all of this, is the wise and loving voice of the Siri Singh Sahib Ji, Yogi Bhajan, confirming this royal path. Listening to my Intuition, I hear God’s voice guiding me, protecting me, and blessing me.

Guru Arjan Dev Ji so sweetly describes all the Gifts one is given when chanting the sacred Name of God. Intuition is one of those Treasures given to His devotees. Below in the full Shabad, he goes on to say that, “God holds conversation with His devotees.” Acting on the subtle voice of one’s Intuition gives life a Graceful direction. It puts the Thee and Thou in life. As a friend said yesterday, “Intuition is listening to the whisper of one’s Soul.” Challenges will still come, but there is an underlying Peace in the security that God is our Support and He always takes care of us. As a cherry on top, Guru Arjan Dev Ji even promises that God’s treasures are so Infinite that they never run out, no matter how much we consume them!

This is the treasure of my Lord. Consuming and expending, it, it is never used up. The Lord has no end or limitation. || 1 || Pause || The Kirtan of the Lord’s Praise is a priceless diamond. It is the ocean of bliss and virtue. In the Word of the Guru’s Bani is the wealth of the unstruck sound current. The Saints hold the key to it in their hands.|| 2 || They sit there, in the cave of deep Samaadhi; the unique, perfect Lord God dwells there. God holds conversations with His devotees. There is no pleasure or pain, no birth or death there. || 3 || One whom the Lord Himself blesses with His Mercy, obtains the Lord’s wealth in the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy. How do we develop this precious Intuition? The Siri Singh Sahib Ji told us over and over again to ‘Do Sadhana’. There was even a button you could get at Summer Solstice which read: Do Sadhana. For Change and Success in life, it is what you do often that makes the difference, not what you visit a few times. If you have a few glasses of vegetable juice twice a year, no great benefits will come. If you drink it daily, the glow starts to show. So it is with a Daily Spiritual Practice. These sacred practices give Intuition and a radiance that stands out.

“You have to gradually grow to develop your intuition and your consciousness and you have to do it consciously. Once you consciously reach your intuition, you will be a totally different person. Then you will say, ‘I call on myself and my psyche’.” Yogi Bhajan 3.8.95

I love to relax with a new Dwell Magazine every month…the quintessential Modern home mag. The pages are filled with huge expansive counters with no mess and no piles anywhere! All the homes are clean, orderly and beautiful with huge windows looking out on gorgeous views of Mother Nature. There is simple Purity to the look which is relaxing. It provides space to dream. Last year this quote by a Dutch Design expert grabbed me:

“I listen like a slave to intuition. I train it like an athlete, thank it like an individual, and now I’ve come to believe that it’s not even my intuition —it’s the way the human body is linked to a bigger experience and context.” Li Edelkoort, Dwell Magazine, February 28, 2017.

It isn’t often you read about Intuition in the popular culture. And for me, her reference to listening “like a slave” completely won me over. Being a Slave to the Guru and his Teachings is a constant yearning for me that always gives back. We train like spiritual athletes through our Sadhana to be the best we can be – to serve all to be their best as well!

Every day is a gift. When we take the time, and give the space to appreciate the miracle of our Intuition, our life can manifest more of the sacred and less of the scared! And it is not about being perfect. It is about being real and honest.

Today I was trying to do too much in the early hours before going to the Ashram. I had just finished my big first morning mug of water combined with lemon juice, apple cider vinegar and cranberry juice. It was on a small tray and could have stayed there until I returned later. Instead I thought to “tidy up” and bring it to the sink. My Intuition softly told me it wasn’t necessary now, but I did it anyway. Thirty seconds later, my mug tumbled onto the floor and broke into many porcelain pieces! Ah…this is how listening would have saved time and upset! Not listening created more work. So following your Intuition can mean doing your best, with Kindness and Grace towards yourself and others.

As Leonard Cohen wrote,

“Forget your perfect offering. There is a crack in everything. That’s how the light gets in.”
