Many thanks to various partner organizations and news outlets around the world for sharing the vital efforts to safely evacuate Sikh Holy Scriptures from Odessa, Ukraine. This Seva was made successful by the joint efforts of Sikh Dharma International, Sikh Defence Network UK, and UNITED SIKHS.
The tragedy of the war in Ukraine made it necessary to evacuate the ਸੈੰਚੀਆੰ (‘Sainchian/religious scriptures’) and ਗੁਟਕੇ (‘Gutke/sacred prayer tablets’) from the port city of Odessa in Ukraine. This Seva was critical as the residents of Odessa had been preparing to defend the city from an imminent attack after the siege of Mariupol nearby.
The holy scriptures were respectfully brought from Odessa to the United Kingdom by Simran Singh, where they were received by the Sangat and then taken to the National Sikh Museum in Derby, UK.
