Monthly Kirtan Jam Session (November 1, 2025)

Our first monthly Kirtan Jam Session took place on Saturday, November 1, 2025.  The total event was four hours long. For the first three hours, each musician played for 45 minutes. For the last hour, Karina, Gurutrang Singh and members of the GRDAA Sangat played some additional mantras/songs, as well as some requested songs by the participants.

It was a very creative bunch of musicians, and they played

  • Some of their awesome “previously unheard” songs they written
  • Furmaan Khalsa poems put to music
  • Lots of paurees of Japji Sahib (in honor of Guru Nanak’s birthday which was the following week),
  • Sikh Dharma/ 3HO “Oldies” (i.e. “By God’s Grace” by Singh Kaur and “Chanting Sat Nam” by Gurudass Singh
  • Mantras
  • Song of the Khalsa (in a fun Reggae/English/Portuguese style)
  • A Cherokee Indian Song about Oneness, with one of our mantras woven into it,
  • The Cat Stevens Song, “Wind” with Ong Namo sung with it
  • And at the end, the question came from one of the musicians, “what would Led Zeppelin sound like if played ‘our kind of music’?”… so Gurutrang Singh gave that a try!

Finally, one of the participants who’s a New York Giants (American Football) fan, prodded Gurutrang Singh to play the Baltimore Ravens fight song (Gurutrang is a Ravens fan).

We ended the event with promises from two musicians who said they were preparing new songs for the next jam session.

It all was very uplifting and great fun!

The Musicians Who Played for this Event

Sat Hari Singh from Germany

In 1981 I had decided to go to the Guru Ram Das Ashram. I wanted to dedicate myself entirely to this spiritual way of life of Kundalini Yoga and Sikh Dharma, my whole life. The dawn of the Age of Aquarius had moved many people like me to give 100% of their lives into new contexts. In health food stores, at Amnesty International – or yoga. For the next eleven years, my life consisted of sadhana, 3HO, Golden Temple Restaurant, evening yoga, raising children and above all experiencing, preparing and following up on Yogi Bhajan’s visits. That shaped me.

During that time, I translated my heart’s prayer, the Jap Ji Sahib, twice, published a mantra booklet and turned my experiences into music, because our “religion” is music. Everything else came out of it later. There are moments in every person’s life when there is an extraordinary opportunity to serve their time and their people. When I saw the starry sky in the Old Synagogue in Boizenburg for the first time, I knew here it was, now it’s that time again. Sat Nam.

Gurudev Kaur from Germany

I have been practicing and teaching Kundalini Yoga and the healing art Sat Nam Rasayan as taught by Yogi Bhajan since 1997. I have an adult daughter and am a licensed doctor. The deep, transformative power and intelligence of Kundalini Yoga and the associated potential for healing of body and mind is the focus of my teaching. I lead Sacred Chanting Circles and teach harmonium and meditative singing & chanting. I am fascinated by the possibility of exchanging old, non-serving patterns of behavior and habits with the help of devotional chanting of certain sound combinations (gurbani) for new frequencies and patterns that unfold our full human potential.

MataMandir Singh from the US (Italy/India)

Born a country bumpkin in the state of Maine in the USA. He became fascinated by Naad Yoga and studied kirtan, both Western and Indian folk/classical music using guitar, rabab, harmonium, vocal, and tabla for much of his life. He now lives as a country bumpkin in Italy, sharing his knowledge and love of Naad Yoga and kirtan online, and in private classes online, at Miri Piri Academy in Amritsar, as well as in and around Europe.

He is also author of the book, Naad Yoga: The Yoga of Sound available as an eBook on Amazon .com. https://www.patreon.com/MataMandirSingh

Mata Mandir is also the author of the forthcoming book “Naad Yoga: The Yoga of Sound” and a featured artist on Invincible Music.

Karina Skye (Siri Priya Kaur) – Originally from Brazil; currently living in Florida, US

Internationally renowned Recording Artist from Brazil, and talented multi-Instrumentalist with over 150 titles released (English, Spanish, Portuguese, Gurmukhi), Karina Skye Khalsa writes conscious and high vibrational music in a wide range of styles and leads Kirtan and meditations with live music with sacred Gurmukhi Chants, Shabads and Kundalini Yoga mantras.

Karina is also an Experienced Kundalini Yoga & Mindfulness Teacher (ERYT500 IKYTA Level 3).

Gurutrang Singh from Virginia, US

I have been playing piano, guitar, drums and singing songs since I was born. I began guitar lessons at age 11. My father was a Big Band tenor sax and clarinet player. My mom has a beautiful voice. My sister spun all the hit tunes in the way back. Music was always at my home and a part of my life.

When I was sixteen, I was introduced to Kundalini Yoga. I moved into the Baltimore Panj Pyare Ashram when I graduated high school at age 18. I was attending lots of White Tantric Yoga courses, Summer and Winter Solstice Celebrations, Yoga Intensives, and Kundalini Yoga Courses taught live, directly by the Siri Singh Sahib Yogi Bhajan. My musical abilities were quickly integrated into the group practices wherever I went, and I wrote several endearing, heritage 3HO songs, such as “Sat Nam the Grace Within You”, “Oh Guru Ram Das Thank You for this Beautiful Day”, “The Yogi Tea Song”, “Get Out of Bed You Little Sleepy Head”, and many other chants and songs.

I also learned by memory most every other Heritage song from so many 3HO artists and sang them at Gurdwaras and events everywhere even up until this day. Mukhia Singh Sahib Livtar Singh and I shared music when our beards were still brown, black, and gold hair at Solstices, and at Dharmic activities.

You can say, I am a walking, talking, singing, encyclopedia of 3HO/Sikh Dharma devotional songs. And I love it. I love singing from my heart in the Perfect Love of the Perfect Guru, Siri Guru Granth Sahib Ji. When I sing, my aura, sound, and colorization vibrate into the Magnetic Infinity. I reach people by vibrating with them as I play and sing. It is as if I am one with their One.
