By Grace of Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji, for 18 years the Malaysian Sangat has hosted annual Japa events which offer participants a deep and profound spiritual experience.
From May 31 – June 7, 2026, Anand Retreats. hosted a six-day Japa recitation, where Sangat Members from around the globe joined Jugat Guru Singh to recite the “Re Man” Shabad by Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji 11,000 times.
The Siri Singh Sahib Ji shared this about the Re Man Shabad by Guru Gobind Singh Ji Maharaj.
“Guru Gobind Singh’s entire bani is meant to penetrate through the mental body, right into your own spirit. The secret of this bani; it is a pure Naad Yoga. It is in Brij Baashaa language. The combination and permutation of sound is totally practical in his bani. The tongue creates a certain pressure on the upper palate. This shabad has the capacity, if man is bewitched by incurable disease, if sung properly through the tongue and mouth, can bring total health. Each sound must be said exactly correctly. It can lead to perfect state of mental health and surrounding spirit.
Perfection of this shabad can make you like a Golden Buddha. You will have wisdom, you will have purity of a yogi, and you will have an essence. I request everyone who believes in higher values to remember this shabad in perfect sound. It is very perfect combination. As a shabad you can sing 11 times a day, you will feel the miraculous effect of it on your body, mind and soul.” ~ The Siri Singh Sahib Ji
Here are some testimonials from Sangat members about their experience of this powerful Japa practice:
I am deeply grateful to Siri Singh Sahib Bhai Sahib Harbhajan Singh Khalsa Yogi Ji for preserving and sharing the sacred Re Man Jaap through Baba Guru Dev Singh Ji for the benefit of the Sangat. Among the many powerful Jaaps shared to uplift humanity, the Re Man Jaap from Sri Dasam Granth Sahib Ji holds a special place, reminding us to look within and become more aware of our true selves.
One teaching from Baba Guru Dev Singh Ji that stayed with me throughout this journey was that this Jaap does not make you a different person, rather, it makes you aware of who you already are. Through this practice, I have become more aware of my thoughts and habits. That awareness has helped me approach daily life with greater clarity and understanding.
My heartfelt gratitude goes to Yogi Bhajan Ji, Baba Guru Dev Singh Ji, Jagat Guru Ji, and everyone who continues to preserve and share this beautiful practice with the Sangat. Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa, Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh ~ Manjot Singh
Re Man Jaap was a beautiful experience for me. It helped calm my mind and reminded me to stay connected to Naam throughout the day. I felt more peaceful and grateful. I’m thankful for the opportunity and for everything I learned. ~ Harkeerat Singh
Sat Nam dear Sangat, my name is Deva Singh, i take part in Re Man Jappa since Guru Dev Singh started offering it in 2004, since 2014 i am part of the group facilitating it. Re Man Jappa has kind of determined my adult life. Guru Dev Singh used to speak many times about how this fundamental practice works. The Shabd itself describes a meditative process that you go through yourself while you recite it.
He summarized it as such: In the beginning it’s like by repeating the Shabd you tease the demons. Come on lazy demons, is that all darkness you can show me? You’ll see some very dark places, you keep on reciting and can attain a state, where you are unimpressed by darkness. It is not guaranteed but you can then reach a different level. Now reciting changes to teasing the angels. Is that the most elevated, bright state you can show? You will reach very elevated states of meditation. Which is not yet the goal of the meditation. When you keep on repeating, you can reach a state where you are unimpressed by light and darkness.
This is exactly what this Shabd gave me. A tremendous freedom to be unimpressed by light and darkness. Very helpful in meditation and very useful for Sat Nam Rasayan healings and teaching.
To avoid misunderstandings a little end note: Guru Dev Singh was always speaking from a non-dualistic point. Demons and Angels refer to states of consciousness in you, not external entities.
The repetition of 11000 Re Mans is a very profound experience. Guru Dev Singh advised us to do this kind of practice in a group; he trained a handful of people for many years to lead this kind of practices. If you feel like it, reach out and join us in spring in India.

Oh my mind practice Yoga in this way.
Let Truth be your horn, sincerity your necklace, and meditation the ashes you apply on your body.
Catch your burning soul (self) and stop the flames.
Let the soul (self) be the alms bowl in which you collect the sweet Naam
and this will be the only support you will ever need.
The Universe plays its divine music. The sound of reality is shrill, but this is where God is.
When you listen to the reality from this place of awareness the sweet essence of Raag arises.
Waves of melodies, emotions, and passions arise and flow through you. Bind yourself with the song of God.
The Universe spins like a potter’s wheel and from it fly demons and angels.
The sage listens to this and instead of getting caught in either one,
the sage drinks in the nectar of the heavens and is carried to the heavens in a divine chariot.
Instruct and clothe yourself with self-control. Meditate unto infinity until you are meditating without meditating.
In this way, your body shall remain forever golden, and death shall never approach you.
