Welcome to the Valley of the Crosswinds, Anandpur Sahib

By Siri Ram Kaur Khalsa, Deputy Secretary General

I could not ignore the commanding words that echoed out from the ethers as my car drove through the welcome gate, “The Siri Singh Sahib built this place for a reason!” And so began my recent visit to Dashmesh Sadan Ashram, the training center for Kundalini Yoga and Sikh Dharma created by our Beloved teacher in the majestic foothills of the Himalayas. I was overjoyed to find that since the last days in what also served as his personal home in Anandpur, incredible progress was made to manifest his vision of a lush and sacred place on the Guru’s land where teachers and students could study and heal.

Thanks to the efforts of Gurudharm Kaur, Sat Jiwan Kaur, Kali Dass Singh, and now, Siri Bhrosa Kaur of Los Angeles, groups are welcomed in a truly professional way with beautiful and comfy accommodations, fresh Indian cuisine cooked on-site and served family style in outdoor gazebos, and opportunities to walk the 4 acres of green Punjabi farmland. The program also includes tours to surrounding sites and gurdwaras and the extraordinary Khalsa Heritage Museum, recently built by the internationally known architect, Moshe Safdie.

By God’s Grace, and the devotion of the Dashmesh staff, this can be the beginning of an era where generations will be served and healed in the Valley of the Crosswinds.
