Raj Khalsa Gurdwara and the Guru Angad Institute of Sikh Studies teamed up to participate in 28th annual Dr. Martin Luther King march and celebration held in Leesburg, VA on January 20.
The sangat was blessed to represent Sikhs in this community event honoring one of the greatest spiritual leaders and champions of civil rights in U.S. history.
Participants enjoyed marching (even in chilly temperatures!) and had a wonderful time at the celebration afterward, enjoying beautiful music and dance performances and hearing from inspiring speakers, including keynote speaker Dr. Jason Nichols from the African American Studies Department at the University of Maryland.
Volunteers from the Guru Angad Institute and Raj Khalsa Gurdwara arranged for hot drinks and baked goods to be provided to all march participants, volunteers and law enforcement officials at the event – a seva that was much appreciated by all present.
