Ardas (Sikh Prayer)

The word “Ardas” literally means “prayer.”   The traditional Sikh Ardas has come to represent a specific form of prayer recited in every Gurdwara program which is recited before the Guru is brought into a Gurdwara and again just before the hukam (reading from the Siri Guru Granth Sahib) at the end of the gurdwara service and once more when the Guru is brought out of the Gurdwara and set into Sukhasaan.  Ardas is also often recited before undertaking any activity of significance, before leaving on a journey, to give thanks or as a way of daily remembering the Creator.
