Why must we recite the pauri/ paath specifically 11 times? What is the significance of the number 11?
Guruamrit Khalsa (SDI) says:
Sat Nam, thank you for your question! The specifics of practice of recitation of paath is at the discretion of each individual. Eleven is a recommended number, as in yogic numerology 11 is a significant number, with the numbers 1-11 corresponding to teach of the ten bodies plus the number 11, which is the combined embodiment of all the other ten. So reciting 11 times can produce a harmonizing energy. Thus we recommend practicing Shabads 11 times a day for a minimum of 40 days to enhance the impact of the practice and begin to rewire our habits.
