Japji Sahib – 10th Pauree

10th Pauree

The Tenth Pauree grants grace.

Sikh Art by Sewa Singh – SikhPhotos.com

Excerpted from the book Guru Nanak’s Call of the Soul: Japji Sahib:

Guru Nanak tells us that by deep listening we realize the ultimate Truth, the Sat, which is the essence of God, the One. And when that is realized, contentment and spiritual wisdom follow . . .  He tells us that by deeply listening, we are regaled with the full benefit of bathing in those sacred places [of pilgrimage] without traveling anywhere. When we deeply listen, we are bestowed the benefits of endless studying and repeating of sacred scriptures without reading or reciting a single word. Through this process of deep listening, we become deeply absorbed in the meditation of the One. By deeply listening, the bhagtaa, the devotee, is ever in bliss and all pains, karmas, and concerns are removed.

Deeply listening,

one attains Truth, contentment,

and spiritual wisdom.

Deeply listening,

one takes a cleansing bath at

the sixty-eight places of pilgrimage.

Deeply listening,

one receives the benefit of reading

and reciting sacred scripture, and honor is obtained.

Deeply listening,
