After 9/11/2001, Snatam Kaur Khalsa and Siri Kaur Khalsa initiated the first interfaith gathering in Eugene, Oregon. The historic 1st Christian Church provided a space for the initial gathering. The church has continued to host an interfaith prayer service on the 11th of every month ever since. The church is 150 years old and on the national registry. There was a full house for the Interfaith Service on the 10th anniversary of 9/11. Sat Bir Singh Khalsa delivered a beautiful message during the event. The Sikhs of Eugene provided refreshments and good cheer to the attendees.
Over the years, the Sikh community in Eugene has provided leadership, support, singing, and food for these interfaith gatherings. The services have been well attended and given inspiration to many people in Eugene. This interfaith prayer service will celebrate its 10th Anniversary on October 11, 2011.
