Sikh Dharma International has just finished the Guru Ram Das Chetna Yatra to Amritsar, celebrating the birth of Guru Ram Das Ji with the people of Amritsar.  People from New Mexico, Canada and Los Angeles, together with KRI Level Two Teacher Training led by Haridass Kaur Khalsa, experienced the amazing love of Guru Ram Das  and the light of the Harimandir Sahib, the Golden Temple.

Miri Piri Academy participated in the Nagar Kirtan on October 8th, playing gatka throughout the streets of Amritsar.  The people of the city loved it, giving us lots of smiles and love.

On the evening of October 8th, Chardi Kala Jatha sang at the annual Raag Kirtan Darbar.  Sada Sat Simran Singh, Jugat Guru Singh, Guru Prakash SIngh and Himmat Singh sang the Shabad of Guru Ram Das in the classical Raag Kirtan style, bringing us all into bliss.

On Guru Ram Das’s birthday, October 9th, more than 500,000 people were crowded onto the parkarma.  It was amazing!  Chardi Kala Jatha sang inside the Siri Harimandir Sahib in the afternoon and, by some miracle of Guru Ram Das, the whole yatra was given special access with the Jatha.  To sit inside the Golden Temple on this day was an incredible blessing.  The power of Guru Ram Das is deep and sweet and was felt in every cell of our being.

The SGPC honored the Yatra with saropas and loving words.  They expressed that it was meaningful for the people of Amritsar to see us again, celebrating with the sangat on this great day.  They asked us to promise to return each year for the Gurupurb, and we humbly agreed.  It is an incredible honor to share the love of Guru Ram Das with the beautiful sangat of Amritsar, his home.
