This Shabad sung daily in every Gurdwara yet is not understood. Woman is the nucleus of the universe yet she is not aware of the power of her integrity and grace. Guru Nanak Dev ji gave us a very important technology through the shabad.

“This shabad has a complete naad (sound pattern) to create and trigger the Aad (primary spirituality) in any woman who shall do the jaapa of this Shabad” (Siri Singh Sahib ji,  KWTC ’82).

Bhand is the woman. The woman is the creation of God through which all life comes. She is the container for creation. The word “Bhand” in every line refers to the woman as a container.

A simple meditation to experience BHAND is to imagine yourself as a container for the entire Universe. Sit for a few minutes and visualize and feel you contain the entire universe . . . and you will lack for nothing (paraphrase of information from a lecture by the Siri Singh Sahib ji).

Guru Nanak recognized the need to empower woman to her grace for the sake of society and the future generations. Woman has to live with Integrity. But in most cultures, woman is downgraded.

Even in todays’ modern liberated society of the West, woman looses as she is living through her sexuality or she is competing with the man. A woman on sale has betrayed her own grace which is where her power dwells.

Recitation of this SHABAD can bring a God shield around her to stop indignity and bestow the dignity. Sing your own glory in the words of Nanak. It can bring her grace and heal both men and women from Mother-Father phobia.

English Translation

From woman, man is born; within woman, man is conceived; to woman he is engaged and married.

Woman becomes his friend; through woman, the future generations come.

When woman dies he seeks another woman to woman he is bound.

So why call her bad. From her, kings are born?

From woman, woman is born; without woman, there would be no one at all.

O Nanak, only the True Lord is without a woman.

Blessed, beautiful it the mouth that praises the Lord continually.

O Nanak, those faces shall be radiant in the Court of the True Lord.
